Beta teacher tutorial
Use the beta EdgeMates content generator sheet to build a custom matching pack, upload it, and share a playable code with students in the EdgeMates Classroom app.
No EdgeMates login or signup is required. Anyone with access to Google Sheets can create and upload their own packs.
This beta workflow currently works only with the EdgeMates Classroom app and may continue to evolve.
The sheet
Enter a pack name, then choose labels for the two sides of each match.
Add one row for each pair you want students to match. Use categories to group related words or facts.
Leave unused rows blank. When finished, choose Edgemates -> Upload Pack to Server.
Use at least 16 rows for 4x4 puzzles. Thirty to one hundred twenty rows is a comfortable range for most packs.
Keep entries short enough to fit on a tile, and avoid repeated answers when possible.
Step by step
Start by making your own copy of the content generator sheet. The template link opens in copy mode so each teacher gets a personal working sheet where the title, rows, and distribution code stay together.
Enter a clear pack name such as Spanish Basics, Biology Terms, or US Capitals. This is the title students will see in EdgeMates.
Set the left and right labels for the type of match you are making, such as English / Spanish, Question / Answer, or State / Capital.
Each row should include a category, a left-side entry, and a right-side match. Blank rows are ignored, so it is fine to leave extra room in the sheet.
When the list is ready, use Edgemates -> Upload Pack to Server. The exporter builds the `.empack` file, publishes it, and returns a short import code.
Give students the code shown after upload. In the EdgeMates Classroom app, they choose Import Pack and enter the code to bring the pack into the app.
